Tove Leeds provides certified MEWP and Working at Height Training for scissor lift operators, boom lift operators, scaffolding supervisors, and height safety personnel across construction and industrial worksites. Scissor Lift Operator Training
Overview: Training for safe use of scissor lifts and vertical mobile elevating work platforms, including pre-use checks, work-at-height controls and emergency lowering. Training/assessment delivery is aligned with TVTC approval and SASO HERC requirements where the course falls within the approved scope.
Who Should Attend: MEWP operators, maintenance staff, installers, construction workers and personnel performing work at height from scissor lifts.
Prerequisites: Employer authorization, medical fitness for work at height, PPE/fall prevention equipment as required by site rules, and access to suitable MEWP equipment for assessment.
Learning Outcomes:
- Complete pre-use checks and workplace inspection before operation.
- Understand platform capacity, ground conditions, pothole protection and guardrail requirements.
- Operate elevation, travel and emergency lowering functions safely.
- Apply fall prevention, rescue planning and reporting requirements.
Practical Assessment:
- Pre-use inspection and work area assessment.
- Drive/position/elevate/lower the platform safely.
- Demonstrate emergency lowering and safe parking/charging or isolation.
Limitations: Does not replace rescue plan, site permit, equipment inspection, harness policy or employer authorization.

Mobile Vertical Platform Operator Training
Overview: Training for operators using mobile vertical access platforms for maintenance, installation and work-at-height tasks. Training/assessment delivery is aligned with TVTC approval and SASO HERC requirements where the course falls within the approved scope.
Who Should Attend: Operators of mobile vertical personnel platforms, maintenance staff, contractors and site teams requiring competence verification.
Prerequisites: Employer authorization, medical fitness, PPE, work-at-height awareness and access to the relevant mobile vertical platform for practical assessment.
Learning Outcomes:
- Inspect platform, controls, tyres, alarms and emergency systems.
- Assess surface condition, overhead hazards and platform positioning.
- Operate vertical lifting and travelling functions safely.
- Follow safe parking, charging/fuelling and defect reporting requirements.
Practical Assessment:
- Conduct pre-use and site condition checks.
- Operate travel and vertical lift functions safely.
- Demonstrate emergency descent, safe exit/entry and parking.
Limitations: Applies only to the assessed equipment category and does not authorize use beyond platform limits, site controls or manufacturer instructions.

Mobile Boom Operator Training
Overview: Training for boom-type MEWPs with emphasis on outreach control, positioning, entrapment prevention, fall protection and rescue readiness. Training/assessment delivery is aligned with TVTC approval and SASO HERC requirements where the course falls within the approved scope.
Who Should Attend: Operators of articulated boom lifts, telescopic boom lifts, access platforms and personnel working at height from boom-type MEWPs.
Prerequisites: Employer authorization, medical fitness for work at height, PPE including harness/lanyard where required, site induction and access to suitable boom lift for practical assessment.
Learning Outcomes:
- Understand boom movement, outreach, platform capacity and stability limits.
- Inspect equipment and work area before use.
- Operate safely near structures, traffic, overhead services and obstructions.
- Use harness/lanyard requirements and emergency lowering procedures correctly.
Practical Assessment:

Overview: Training for static vertical personnel platforms used for controlled work at height in fixed-position maintenance, installation and facility tasks. Training/assessment delivery is aligned with TVTC approval and SASO HERC requirements where the course falls within the approved scope.
Who Should Attend: Personnel using static vertical platforms, maintenance staff, installers and facility teams.
Prerequisites: Employer authorization, medical fitness, PPE, work-at-height awareness and access to the relevant platform for practical assessment.
Learning Outcomes:
- Check equipment condition, platform controls and emergency functions.
- Confirm safe positioning, ground bearing and access arrangements.
- Operate vertical movement safely within platform limits.
- Maintain housekeeping and prevent dropped-object hazards.
Practical Assessment:
- Pre-use check of controls, guardrails/gates and emergency lowering.
- Operate vertical movement safely within limits.
- Demonstrate safe access/egress, parking and isolation.
Limitations: Does not authorize use on unsuitable ground, bypassing interlocks/guardrails or operation outside platform/manufacturer limits.
